Charles Bubb

Charlie joined the Navy in 1962 and after training was assigned to the nuclear submarine USS Sculpin on which he served as Machinist's Mate until his discharge Dec. 1969. Based in San Diego, he met (on a blind date, April 7) and married --an English girl, Anne Gray, August 7, 1966. The wedding was at St. Bede's and the reception in his parents, garden on Sharon Road, Menlo Park. (His father , Charles R. Bubb, Jr., was Prinicipal Trumpet of the San Francisco Symphony during the 60s under Pierre Monteux.) Charlie's wife, Anne, holder of a Ph.D. in Human Behavior, is the author of several books on motivational themes and classical music.

In the course of the years, Charlie completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Public Administration from the University of Laverne.

(He can still fit into his High School clothes.)

Charlie's father, Charles R. Bubb, Jr. passed away in his home in Menlo Park, February 12, 2002. His memory was honored with a concert by the San Francisco Symphony.

Charlie retired from the San Diego County Marshals Office in 1998 and helped Anne complete her 15 year project which became the 1072 page book: The WORLD of WOMEN in Classical Music - She writes under her maiden name, Dr. Anne K. Gray. Published in 2007, the book is in the running for both a Pulitzer Prize and the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award.
