Barbara DuFresne Thomas, P.R. star of Niehaus Ryan Wong, Inc. Inventive Public Relations in South SF files recent pics with us. We added the 1958 pics just for fun...they follow Barbara's letter below.
Barbara writes:
"Finally found some time to write about my life since June 58. Ed and I
were married in August of 58 and we just celebrated our 40th
anniversary. Our daughter Debra was born in September 58 and she just
celebrated her 40th this past weekend. We moved to Oregon in 1960 where
Ed finished his BBA and then went to work for Arthur Andersen & Co.
(CPA's) in San Francisco.
I have done volunteer work, fund raising and
public relations for non-profits for years. Also involved in the human
potential movement in the seventies and led seminars and youth programs
for many years. In the early eighties we helped form the Beyond War
educational movement and moved to Iowa to start that effort there in
1984. Beyond War was an educational movement aimed at bringing an end
to the arms race. I was co-director of the Beyond War Project in Iowa
during the 1987-88 election process. Moved back to Menlo Park area in
1988 and became financially productive as well as doing good works. I
began working in fund raising, high tech public relations, and have been
Director of Human Resources for Niehaus Ryan Wong Public Relations in
South San Francisco. Our clients are Internet and Enterprise Systems
Software based. Checkout our Website at www.nrwpr.com.
Our son Royce was born in 1962 and he and his family live in the Seattle
area. He works for Sprint as a national account manager and his account
is Microsoft. Debra works for Aspect Telecommunications and she is a
national account manager as well. She travels extensively in the U.S.
for her work, as well as internationally for pleasure. Both of our kids
are M-A grads (Debbie in 1976 and Royce in 1980).
We have moved eighteen times and currently live in Montara, CA, eight
miles north of Half Moon Bay on the Coast. We have had the joy of
living in Holland for three years, traveling in Europe, Asia, India and
parts of Latin America. Our interests over the years have been
primarily working for the cooperation of the races, religions and people
of the planet, and looking out for the environment.
Seven years ago we developed an interest in trail riding and now count
that as our major commitment besides family and friends. We love the
outdoors, travel, and enjoy horse camping as well as a cabin at
Pinecrest in the Sierra which we've been going since 1961. Our dogs and
grandchildren take up any slack time and yes, we are generally ready to
crash by 10pm.
It will be great to get re-acquainted with people and we
look forward to the reunion. Many thanks to all the hard work put in by
the organizers!"
