Larry Irwin
We heard from one of our football, basketball and baseball heroes, Larry Irwin. Here's his letter:

Hello everyone...

Larry Irwin here...sitting at my desk here at LSI Logic in Milpitas, CA reading M-A memories when I should be finishing my project plan.

I have been working in a wide variety of roles in the Semiconductor manufacturing business and am currently a project manager in the Information Systems department at LSI.

I am living in west Menlo Park with my wonderful wife of 28 years, Roberta, and staring at two empty rooms in our house because the last of my three daughters has gone off to college (Berkeley). Both of my youngest daughters graduated from M-A (Jenny ’95 and Beth ’97), so Roberta and I have been walking the halls there for the last 6 years.

Our principal preoccupation has been watching the girls play in sports as they were both exceptional jocks (which is about all I did in High School ... or college for that matter) and made quite a splash. The splash, of course, was a reference to swimming. Jenny was a 4 time CCS finalist in the sprints, swims at UCSD, and is an 8 time NCAA III All-American, was well as a starter on their nationally ranked waterpolo team. Beth was one of the members of the first ever women’s waterpolo team at M-A. She was a two time first team all CCS player and 1996 CCS Player of the year. That earned her 2nd Team High School All American, which she matched with an All-American rating in swimming, when her sprint relay team broke the CCS 200 free relay record.

As a side light, she played on the basketball team, lead the team in scoring and rebounding and was Honorable Mention All-Bay Area. She has been invited to play on the National Junior waterpolo team this summer. She is currently a freshman at Cal in the School of Engineering, and is on the first ever women’s waterpolo scholarship at Cal.
